Juan's home in New Carrollton, MD was very uncomfortable throughout the second floor. He knew the insulation was leading to the problem, however, she was hesitant to address the problem due to losing her valuable storage space. After another unbearable summer, Juan had had enough and called Complete Home Solutions. After a full home examination from one of our Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the home's attic insulation was a leading culprit in the home's uncomfortable upstairs temperatures. While comfort was a priority, Stephen did not want to lose the valuable storage space his attic currently had, luckily for Juan, we had a solution. On the day our crew began work on the attic they began by pulling back the existing insulation to ensure the area was properly air sealed. Air sealing ensures that there are no seams or cracks around top plates, recessed lights, or outlets that could allow conditioned air to rise and escape from the living area of your home. The next step was building an attic hatch damn at the entrance to the attic. This process allows our crew to blow insulation as close to your attic hatch as possible while also making the entryway clean if you have to get into your attic. The final step is to add a new blanket of Cellulose insulation to the attic to ensure 16 inches of insulation all the way around the attic.
Juan can't wait to see how these improvements help the efficiency and comfort in his home this winter.

This homeowner in Hyattsville, Maryland seemed to spend every winter exasperating themselves trying to stay warm. They decided that they had had enough this winter! They got into contact with Complete Home Solutions.
The first step we took was to perform a Home Energy Audit and figure out what we were dealing with. We found that the attic was a major part of the problem. There was an absolute minimum amount of insulation and no air sealing. All that hot air that the homeowner was trying to fill the house with was slipping right up and out through the attic! After explaining this to them, they had us seal up the attic hatch, air seal the rim joists and any attic penetrations, and install TruSoft Cellulose insulation to fix the problem. The homeowner has already noticed a difference in their comfort levels and is no longer dreading the long winter!
Can you tell that these two photos are looking in the same attic? Melvin's Landover, MD home was very uncomfortable, especially on the second floor. Following a call to Complete Home Solutions, our Home Comfort Specialist was able to determine why very quickly. The condition of this attic left a lot to be desired helping with comfort and efficiency issues throughout the home. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began the transformation of this attic pulling back the existing insulation to properly air seal the floor, which prevents any conditioned air from being able to escape the living space of the home. Next, our crew install baffles along the eaves of the home to ensure proper ventilation and that we could blow in the correct amount of cellulose to every inch of the attic. The final step was to blow in 16 inches of new stabilized cellulose insulation, which creates the barrier needed between the extreme temperatures of your attic and the rest of your home.
Melvin noticed an immediate difference in comfort and is looking forward to a comfortable home for years to come.
