This home in Edgewater, Maryland suffered from insufficient and ineffective insulation causing the home to be drafty and have uncomfortable temperatures. The homeowner called Complete Home Solutions to find a solution to the issues. Our Auditor determined the source of the problem to be the insulation in the attic.
Our Production Team used blown in cellulose insulation to better insulate the home and make the home more comfortable.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case, they would be right. Kate called Complete Home Solution a few years after moving into her Edgewater, MD home to take a look at what could be causing the first floor of her home to be comfortable, while her upstairs was noticeably different in temperature, especially in the warm summer months. After a full inspection of her home, the recommendation of our Home Comfort Specialist was to properly air seal the home's attic and blow in new cellulose insulation. By air sealing with our fire block spray foam, it prevents any of the air you pay to condition where it belongs, in the home. Adding the 16inches of Cellulose insulation it creates a barrier between the living space of your home and the harsh conditions of your attic. These pictures were both taken from the attic hatch at the same level, as you can see there is a lot more now in place to keep this home comfortable for years to come.
Kate could not be happier with the results and is now resting comfortably regardless of the temperature outside.

After believing an A/C replacement would fix the comfort issues, Richard called Complete Home Solutions to assess the continued comfort issues. Following an inspection from one of our Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the insulation level was well below current standards, and no air sealing to speak of, that this was a primary source for air leakage and uncomfortable temperatures throughout the rest of the house. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort technicians began by moving the old insulation to properly air seal the attic, which prevents conditioned air from escaping the living space of your home. We use our fire block foam the seal top plates, recessed lights, drywall seams, and attic hatches to make sure there are no spots for air to escape. The next step was to blow in new cellulose insulation to make sure the attic was properly insulated to 18inches all the way around.
Richard noticed an immediate difference following the upgrades, and can't wait to see the drop in his energy usage, from the improvements made.

Greg called Complete Home solutions after another year of uncomfortable conditions in his Edgewater, MD home. In the winter months, she struggles to keep it warm, and in the hot summer months, the upstairs is unbearable. Following a Home Energy Audit, conducted by one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the home's attic was the main culprit in the home's uncomfortable home. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam. The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Eric noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how his house performs in the hot and humid summer months ahead.

Mike had just moved into his Edgewater home when he began to go down the list of things to address by the home inspection. He called Complete Home Solutions when it came time to tackle the crawl space he called the top crawl space company in Southern Maryland, Complete Home Solutions. After taking a look at the crawl space and talking to the customer about their needs, our Home Comfort Specialist was able to recommend replacing the batt insulation in the floor joist and laying down a new vapor barrier. The insulation will act as a barrier between the temperatures that make their way into the crawl space and the home, keeping the home comfortable. The vapor barrier when bolted to the wall ensures that moisture is not coming up from the earth and creating problems in the crawl space.
Mike is extremely happy with the work and is looking forward to many happy years in his new home.
