When your duct work is in the attic, it is especially important to make sure that it is sealed properly. If it isn't, then you will ultimately feel it during the hot and cold months. You can try to raise the AC/heat to make your home comfortable, but when that air is traveling through ducts that live in an unconditioned space, you aren't going to achieve much. 

The solutions for this homeowner meant sealing their ducts. We removed the old insulation (which wasn't doing too great) and instead applied 1" of closed cell spray foam. This particular product is great for sealing duct work because is both air seals and insulates at the same time (and has a long lifespan). Heating and cooling the house will be much easier now. 

This attic was small, but it was causing large problems when it came to the keep this homeowner comfortable. The homeowner in Leonardtown, MD was having trouble keeping their upstairs at a the comfortable temperature compared to the rest of their house. Following a visit from our Home Comfort Specialist, they recommended removing the old insulation and air sealing the attic to help trap the air within their home. The Home Comfort Crew came out and did just that! They added blown-in cellulose insulation. The homeowner was able to feel a noticeable difference and is able to go up and down the stairs with comfortable temperatures.

A lack of insulation and air sealing in your attic can really cause a lot of problem in your home. High utility bills and discomfort were the two that this client complained to us about. Air sealing the attic floors and walls with foam board and caulk was a major upgrade for this home. Then, to top it off, we blew in a bunch of closed cell cellulose insulation. These two upgrades will work together to create an efficient and comfortable home for this client. 

It had been a cold, cold winter for this homeowner. Their house was impossible to keep warm and costing them a fortune to try. They didn't understand how their house could possibly be getting this cold, especially since they had insulation in their attic. Our Home Comfort Specialist found that a huge source of discomfort actually was the attic. Although there was a good bit of insulation in there, it was degraded and discolored, which means that air was still filtering through. The way to stop this was to air seal the attic, remove any damaged insulation, and install blown in cellulose insulation. We created a home that is comfortable throughout the cold winter months! 

Sylvie called Complete Home solutions after another year of uncomfortable conditions in her Lusby, MD home. In the winter months, she struggles to keep it warm, and in the hot summer months, the upstairs is unbearable.  Following a Home Energy Audit, conducted by one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the home's attic was the main culprit in the home's uncomfortable home. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam.  The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes.
