After moving into her White Plains, MD home last year, Evelyn had a Home Energy Audit conducted by Complete Home Solutions to determine how energy efficient the house was. Following the Audit, our Home Comfort Specialist found several areas of the home that could be enhanced to improve on home efficiency and home comfort. Evelyn followed all of the recommendations and began to chip away at each project. Our crew began by first fully encapsulating her crawl space. They then installed a new mini-split HVAC system, and the final improvement was to properly air seal and insulate the attic. As you can see above the attic had old fiberglass batt insulation that was well below current standards to keep the home properly insulated. To fix the comfort issues our crew began by pulling back the old insulation and air sealing any recessed light covers, top plates, and cracks in the drywall then blew in a fresh layer of cellulose insulation to give this home a proper 16 inches of insulation. By air sealing it prevents any conditioned air from escaping the living space of your home, and adding insulation creates a 16in barrier between the attic temperature and the rest of your home.
Evelyn home has now been properly insulated and sealed from top to bottom. These steps will help keep her home comfortable all year round, and also help her HVAC system run less, saving money on monthly utility bills.

This homeowner in La Plata, Maryland had an unfinished basement that he wanted to get properly insulated. He wanted to make sure that he had a reliable company doing the work for him. That's when he found Complete Home Solutions.
We removed the existing FSK insulation (which was torn up and ineffective as a thermal barrier) from the basement walls and installed new, white FSK insulation. Now, when this homeowner does finish his basement, he can rest assured that it will be a comfortable living area that he can make into whatever he likes.
Sara received a Home Energy Audit from Complete Home Solutions to determine areas in her La Plata, MD home that could be costing her money and comfort. After the complete review of the home by one of our trained Home Comfort Specialists, there were several recommendations including insulating the rim joist in the basement, upgrading the hot water heater, and improving the attic insulation levels. To make the biggest impact on her home, she decided to attack the basement and attic first. On the day our crew began work on the attic they began by pulling back the existing insulation to ensure the area was properly air sealed. Air sealing ensures that there are no seams or cracks around top plates, recessed lights, or outlets that could allow conditioned air to rise and escape from the living area of your home. The next step was building an attic hatch damn at the entrance to the attic. This process allows our crew to blow insulation as close to your attic hatch as possible while also making the entryway clean if you have to get into your attic. The final step is to add a new blanket of Cellulose insulation to the attic to ensure 16 inches of insulation all the way around the attic.
These improvements to the attic will help the efficiency of her home helping her HVAC system run less frequently, and also help with comfort throughout the home by keeping the conditioned air in the living space of the home and creating a proper barrier between the living space and attic temperatures.

This cantilever was not property sealed and caused air to leak into the home resulting in cold floors. We removed the plywood soffit, properly air sealed the joist cavities with foam board and spray foam. We also insulated with R-19 fiberglass batt insulation and reinstalled the soffit. The result -- air leakage reduction of 25%. This customer is looking forward to a more energy efficient and comfortable home this winter!
This homeowner in Clinton, MD was having issues keeping their home comfortable as the weather became cooler. Following a call to Complete Home Solutions, our Home Comfort Specialist was able to determine that a big factor to their uncomfortable home was the condition of the insulation in their attic. Our Specialist recommended removing all of the the older and non efficient Batt insulation, followed by air sealing and gaps in the attic floor that could be allowing the colder external air to be creeping down into the house, and finally blowing in a new layer of cellulose insulation. On the day of the job our Home Comfort Technicians transformed this attic into a new highly efficient space. The homeowner noticed an immediate difference and is now resting comfortable.
