This homeowner had an unfinished basement that he was looking to work on. Before he started anything, he wanted to make sure that his walls were insulated right (you definitely don't want to wait until you've dry walled to realize your basement is too cold). Complete Home Solutions came out to check it out. As you can see, there was insulation in the walls, but there was no air sealing. When you have just insulation you're not actually stopping the cold air from coming in. To do this we needed to take out that BATT insulation and apply our closed cell spray foam (which air seals and insulates at the same time). Now this basement is ready to rock n' roll for whatever plans the homeowner has for it.
This home owner in Lanham, MD was noticing that the 2nd floor of his townhouse, which had bedrooms and a home office, was becoming more difficult to keep comfortable. After a call to Complete Home Solutions, the homeowner received a Home Energy Audit of his home. Energy Audits are done by our trained Home Comfort Specialist, who check every aspect of our house not only for way to make you more comfortable, but also for way to cut down your monthly utility bill, and even check for eligible rebates on home performance upgrades. Following the audit our Specialist noticed a lack of insulation and air sealing in the attic of this townhome, which was allowing external temperatures to creep into the living space of the home, while leaving gaps for conditioned air to escape into the attic. On the day of the job our Home Comfort Technicians turned this inefficient attic into one that was now keeping the homeowner as comfortable as possible. They first removed all of the old batt insulation from the attic. The next step was installing baffles the eves of the home. The baffles allow air to circulate efficiently through the attic, while also allowing insulation to be blown in every corner of the attic. next was using our fire block spray foam to fill in any cracks in the floor of the attic that would be allowing air to escape , as well as sealing any gas around recessed lighting. The final step was a new layer of Cellulose insulation. Now that the Cellulose has been blown in this job is complete, and the homeowner in now working and sleeping in comfort.

Air leaks in this attic space allowed outside air into the home and caused drafts. This home in White Plains, Maryland was suffering from major attic air leaks and inadequate attic insulation (as shown in the picture). Our installation crews air sealed all the cracks in the attic and added blown-in cellulose insulation to prevent further air leaks and pests that might get into the home!
This Home in White Plains was struggling to keep warm in the winter and stay cool in the summer. After Complete Home Solutions ran multiple tests including a Blower Door Test, the results showed that the home was leaking air at an alarming rate and the fiberglass insulation in the attic was old and not effective. To fix this problem the Production Crew had to first Air Seal all the top plates, light fixtures, and cracks to reduce any air from leaking out of the house through the attic. After the Air Sealing, the attic had to be then filled with Blown-in Cellulose Insulation until it reached the appropriate level for this region (R-Value of R-49). The combination of air sealing and the cellulose insulation dropped the customers utility bills drastically and made the home much more comfortable.
These homeowners were very happy that they had this analysis performed and had the air leakage problems fixed!
Suzanne called Complete Home solutions after hearing from a friend how much more efficient and comfortable her home was. Following an energy audit conducted by one of our Home Comofrt Specialist, the recommendation was made to address the poorly insulated attic of the home . On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam. The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Suzanne noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how her house performs in the hot and humid summer months ahead.
