This home in White Plains, Maryland was suffering from uncomfortable temperatures and cold drafts this winter. The homeowner called Complete Home Solutions to find a solution to the problem. Our Auditor determined that the source of the issues was insufficient insulation in the attic.
Our Production Team used blow in cellulose to bring the attic insulation closer to Dr. Energy Saver's suggested levels.
Air leaks and insufficient attic insulation caused uncomfortable temperatures throughout this White Plains, MD home. Air leaks in the attic area allowed outside air to seep through the cracks in the roof. We insulated this attic and sealed all the air gaps to make the house more comfortable year round.
This homeowner was experiencing a lot of home comfort issues: drafty rooms, hot & humid summers, cold winters, etc. These issues mainly stemmed from a couple of problem areas in the attic. Firstly, it wasn't air sealed and was under insulated. Secondly, the insulation that was being used around the duct work was spotty and deteriorating. This really explains the issues that the homeowner was having.
We corrected the first problem by caulking all along the floor boards and applying blown in cellulose insulation. We corrected the second problem by installing SilverGlo foam board all around the duct work and sealing it off with caulk. Goodbye uncomfortable rooms and hello affordable utility bills!
This homeowner noticed that he didn't have a lot of insulation in his attic and knew that it must have been affecting his home's comfort. He asked Complete Home Solutions to come take a look and see if there was anything else that could be done to make his attic more energy efficient.
We sent out one of our home comfort specialists to take a look. He found that the attic could've, indeed, used more insulation but it also could've used some serious air sealing. This involved us installing spray foam insulation and caulk around penetrations and cavities (such as ceiling fixture penetrations) in order to prevent air leakage. We also provided a few other smaller solutions to complete the effect. Ultimately, this homeowner gained a more comfortable, less expensive house.
This homeowner living in La Plata, Maryland did not thinking that her home was acting as energy efficiently as it should have been. She wanted a professional to show her how she could improve. She was introduced to Complete Home Solutions who provided her with a home energy audit.
Two of the bigger improvements that we were able to make for her house were air sealing and insulating the attic with loose fill cellulose insulation. We also weatherstripped around the doors and windows and made a few other minor improvements. We did what the homeowner wanted and really increased the energy efficiency of this home.
