Alvi had originally called us in to install new insulation in his attic. While the attic was being completed, Brad, one of our Home Comfort Foreman, was talking the job over with Alvi and while doing that, mentioned that he could go even further to make his home more efficient by spray foaming the rim joist in the basement. He mentioned that the benefit of spray foam is that it completely seals each bay on top of acting as insulation. Alvi's current insulation within the rim joist was old and falling down, so he agreed to make his home even more comfortable by adding it to his job! Brad wasted no time and removed the old insulation and replaced it with the new spray foam! It took around 2 extra hours, but Alvi was very happy with the outcome!
This homeowner recently bought a house in Friendship, Maryland and was giving it a complete renovation. He was smart enough to know that a critical part of his renovation would be weatherizing his house – air sealing and insulating. After looking through a few different companies, he chose Complete Home Solution to perform this crucial job.
We climbed up into the attic and did what we needed to do. We constructed an insulation dam around the attic hatch, air sealed all attic penetrations, and installed TruSoft cellulose insulation. After his renovations are done, this homeowner will have a house that looks nice and feels wonderful!
These homeowners had just recently purchased their house in Germantown. As the good homeowners that they are, they had a thorough home inspection done prior to moving in. One of the things that the home inspector noted was the lack of insulation in the crawl space. Such a crawl space can lead to discomfort issues, health problems, and unreasonable utility bills.
The homeowners requested a CHS home comfort specialist come out to their new house and give them the best solutions for their crawl space. What we did for them was to bring their crawl space into the building envelope (preventing unwanted air from leaking into the living space from the crawl). We did this by applying a vapor barrier on the floor and up the walls (sealing along the edges) and applying closed-cell spray foam insulation on the walls. These homeowners are now ready to move into their newly comfortable home!
This homeowner in North Potomac asked us for help with advice on making their home more comfortable and advice on how to keep the home at a more stable temperature. They were interested in having their attic and crawl space assessed. Our energy auditor, Merv, visited the home and discussed solutions with these homeowners. One of the recommendations was to air seal the rim and band joists in the basement area with 3" of closed cell spray foam insulation. As you can see by the pictures, the rim and band joists were not air sealed prior to our work on the home. We sealed and insulated the rim joists which are major sources of heat loss in the home. This will make their home more energy efficient and comfortable and help keep the temperature in the house more even!
These homeowners in North Potomac, Maryland called our office to find ways to make their mud room more comfortable. They also asked for advice on how to make their home more energy efficient. We recommended solutions to help them achieve their goals. We made significant improvements to their basement and crawl space. This made an immediate improvement to their comfort, health and helped make the temperatures in the home more consistent. Our production crews removed damaged insulation in the crawl space to prepare for air sealing and insulation. We removed old duct wrap from the crawl space and installed a new vapor barrier. We air sealed the crawl space walls and rim and band joists with closed cell spray foam insulation. Now that the crawl space has been improved, these homeowners are finding their mud room to be more comforting and reaping benefits of improved energy efficiency.
