Cruizin' for a Cure
Our first ever “Cruizin for a Cure”! Our goal is with each bike trip we will be raising money for cancer research. Following each trip, Complete Home Solutions will present a check with our donation to a specific Cancer research organization.
In 2018 the Complete Home Solutions family faced the heartbreaking outcome that countless others are faced with every day, when one of our own, Frank Storck, passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. One of Frank’s favorite hobbies was getting on his bike and cruising streets and trails. With his memory in our hearts, several of our team members, including his son Jack who works as a Home Comfort Specialist, teamed up for our first “Cruizin for a Cure” for Pancreatic Cancer.
September 12th our 4 men, cycling group (Rob, Jack, Ramòn, And Wilkins) hit the trails of the Great Allegany Passage just outside of Meyersdale, Pennsylvania to begin their ride that would finish in Hancock, Maryland, 88 miles later.
While this trip has a goal in its sites to help the fight against cancer, our crews ride took them through some beautiful parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland that are not accessible unless you adventure off road. Day one featured rides through the Salisbury Aqueduct, the 3000 foot long Big Savage Tunnel, Bordon Tunnel, and Brush Tunnel, with stops along the way at the Mason-Dixon Line, and the Eastern Continental Divide.
After stopping for the night in Cumberland, the final leg of the 2 day trip would take them along the C&O Canal Towpath for the rest of their journey to Hancock. The crew wore down some tread off their bike tires on Day 2 making only a few stops to rehydrate along the way and stopping for lunch in Little Orleans.
The trip came to a close with our crew exhausted from the long journey, however they knew their pain was nothing close to what cancer patients and their families go through on a daily basis, and can’t wait for our next ride as we “Cruise for a Cure” to help end cancer once and for all.
