Small Business Saturday...Don't Miss Out!
Small Business Saturday is a day for people to embrace the wonderfully creative and enduring locally owned businesses that shape our communities. American Express came up with the genius idea to create and sponsor such a day in 2010 (it’s hard to believe that it’s only been around since then). Watching how the movement has grown and flourished so tremendously in only a few years has truly been an inspirational experience. To think nobody had even heard about such a thing as “Small Business Saturday” before 2010, and already by 2014 $14.3 billion were spent at small independent businesses (on that day)! By 2015, 95 million people went out to shop at small businesses! * That is a phenomenal transition.
This kind of development is so important for not just business owners, but for everybody who wants to live in a healthy. Small businesses comprise 48% of private sector employees (that’s 57 million out of 118 million employees). ** Since we all know the fundamentals of economics, we know that the more jobs there are, the more money is getting circulated, and the healthier the economy is. By that logic, when you get out there and make the decision to support a small business, you are making the decision to feed into the backbone of our country. Let’s get out there and support our communities!
“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” – Babe Ruth
