Toys for Tots

Two years after the end of World War II, it was 1947 and there were many families struggling. Diane Hendrick, wife of Marine Corps Reserve Maj Bill Hendricks, had a small idea. She had handcrafted a Raggedy Ann doll and decided to donate it to a needy child for Christmas. Maj Hendricks thought that was a great idea and took it upon himself to find an organization somewhere in the Los Angeles area that would accept the task. Much to his dismay, there was no such organization. That got Maj Hendricks to thinking. How many children living in Los Angeles would wake up without presents that Christmas? With the urging of his wife, and support of his CO, Maj Hendricks and a few of his fellow Marine Corps Reservists collected 5,000 toys for needy children. 5,000 children that year were able to wake up and feel the joy of Christmas. Thus began the Toys for Tots program.

This holiday season, Complete Home Solutions is proud to announce that we will be part of such an outstanding and important cause. We will have a drop-off box located in our office so that community members can take the opportunity to partake in the Toys for Tots effort with us. We encourage anyone that can to come on by and make a donation. With just a little bit of time and effort, you can make a tremendous difference in a child’s life.
